Why Choose a Brand-New IBC?

While Grand Rapids IBC is best known for our reconditioned totes and eco-friendly approach to container reuse, we recognize that certain applications require a brand-new, never-used container. Regulatory requirements, product purity standards, and customer specifications sometimes make a new IBC the only viable option.

Our new IBC totes come directly from leading manufacturers with full documentation: UN/DOT performance certification, material certificates of analysis, and manufacturer warranties. Every unit is produced with virgin HDPE resin, a freshly galvanized steel cage, and a new pallet -- ensuring zero risk of cross-contamination from prior use.

We stock both 275-gallon and 330-gallon new IBCs at our Grand Rapids facility for immediate availability. For large orders or specialized configurations, we work directly with manufacturers to fulfill custom requirements with typical lead times of 3-6 weeks.

Regulatory Compliance

Certain FDA, EPA, and DOT regulations require first-use containers for specific product categories. New IBCs come with the documentation needed to satisfy auditors and regulatory bodies.

Zero Contamination Risk

For pharmaceutical ingredients, ultra-pure chemicals, or sensitive food applications, a new IBC eliminates any possibility of trace contamination from previous contents.

Full Manufacturer Warranty

New IBCs include the manufacturer's warranty covering material defects, weld failures, and bottle integrity. This provides an extra layer of protection for high-value product applications.

Customer Specification

Some B2B customers or export markets contractually require new containers. Having new IBCs in stock means you can meet these requirements without delays.

Full Specifications

Complete Manufacturer Specifications

Every new IBC we sell meets these manufacturer specifications. All units are produced to ISO 9001 quality management standards with full batch traceability.

Custom Branding

Custom Branding Options

For businesses that ship product in IBCs to end customers or distributors, branded containers create a professional presentation and reinforce your brand identity. We offer several customization options.

Screen Printing

Direct screen printing on the HDPE bottle surface in up to 3 colors. Durable, weather-resistant ink. Company logo, product name, handling instructions, and regulatory markings. Minimum order: 50 units.

Adhesive Label Application

Professional application of custom-printed labels to the bottle surface. Full-color printing available. Lower minimum quantity (10 units) than screen printing. Labels can be removed for reconditioning reuse.

Cage Placards

Metal or heavy-duty plastic placards attached to the steel cage. Visible even when bottles are stacked. Popular for hazmat classification, GHS labels, and brand identification. Any quantity.

Color-Coded Bottles

Use bottle color to identify product lines: blue for water/cleaning products, black for UV-sensitive materials, natural for food-grade. Color coding reduces dispensing errors in multi-product operations.

Our Recommendation

We do not push any single manufacturer. Instead, we help you select the brand and configuration that best matches your application requirements and budget. For most general-purpose applications, Brand B (mid-range) offers the best value-to-quality ratio. For pharmaceutical, high-purity chemical, or premium food applications, Brand A or Brand D provides the higher specifications needed. For budget-conscious buyers with basic storage needs, Brand C delivers functional performance at the lowest price point. Contact us to discuss which manufacturer is right for your specific application.

Making the Right Choice

New vs. Reconditioned: When to Choose Which

FactorNew IBCReconditioned IBC
PriceHigher (full manufacturing cost)60-80% lower
Prior Use HistoryNone -- virgin containerPreviously used, professionally cleaned
UN/DOT CertificationFull original certificationMay retain or require re-certification
Food-Grade StatusCertified with material CoAAvailable when sourced from food-grade use
WarrantyManufacturer warranty includedReconditioning guarantee
Lead TimeIn stock or 3-6 weeks for customTypically in stock for same-day pickup
Environmental ImpactFull manufacturing footprintMinimal -- extends existing container life
Cosmetic ConditionPerfect -- brand new appearanceVaries by grade (A, B, or C)

Our Recommendation

For most industrial, agricultural, and general-purpose applications, a reconditioned IBC delivers identical functional performance at dramatically lower cost. We recommend new IBCs only when one of the following conditions applies:

Regulatory or customer contracts mandate first-use containers
The product is a pharmaceutical ingredient requiring documented purity
Hazmat transport requires original UN certification with current date codes
The end customer will see the container and cosmetic appearance matters
The product has extreme sensitivity to trace contamination
Export markets require new packaging documentation

In every other scenario, we encourage customers to consider our reconditioned IBC totes -- you get the same performance with significant cost and environmental benefits.

Protection & Coverage

Warranty Coverage Details

Every new IBC from Grand Rapids IBC is backed by the manufacturer warranty plus our own satisfaction guarantee. Here is what is covered.

HDPE Bottle -- Material Defects

3-5 years (varies by manufacturer)

Covers manufacturing defects including blow-molding imperfections, abnormal wall thickness variation, material contamination, and UV stabilizer failure. Does not cover damage from incompatible chemicals, over-pressurization, or physical impact.

Steel Cage -- Structural Integrity

3-5 years

Covers weld failures, premature corrosion through the zinc coating under normal indoor storage conditions, and manufacturing defects in cage geometry. Does not cover corrosion from chemical exposure, salt spray environments, or physical impact from forklifts.

Valve Assembly

1 year

Covers manufacturing defects in the valve body, handle mechanism, and factory-installed gasket. Does not cover wear from normal use, damage from over-torquing, or chemical degradation of gasket materials.

Pallet

1 year

Covers manufacturing defects in pallet construction. Wood pallet coverage excludes natural cracking, moisture expansion, and damage from overloading beyond rated capacity. Composite and steel pallets have longer effective coverage.

UN/DOT Certification

5 years from date of manufacture

The UN performance rating is valid for 5 years from the date embossed on the bottle. After 5 years, the container may require retesting and recertification for continued hazmat use. Non-hazmat applications are unaffected.
